A Homer man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly attacking his wife with a box cutter and holding her hostage.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says that just after 2am Monday, deputies were called to the 5000 block of 28 Mile Rd. in Homer Township on reports of domestic assault. Authorities say that a 35-year-old Homer Township man had assaulted his 24-year-old wife, cutting her clothes off with a box cutter and barricading her in a room.

She was held hostage for around an hour before she escaped; she suffered minor injuries in this attack. The CCSO says that the two were married, but were separated and not living together.

The male suspect was arrested at the home and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail, and will be facing charges of Domestic Assault and Unlawful Imprisonment.
