No one was injured in a shooting that took place in Kalamazoo Monday afternoon.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says officers responded to Banbury Rd. near Portage St. around 12:30pm Monday, on a shots fired call; gunfire was even heard by dispatchers as they were on the line. When police got there, they determined no one had been hit by the shots; they also located the 25-year-old suspect in an apartment nearby, and after negotiation over the phone he gave himself up.

A search warrant was obtained by the KDPS, and they say they found multiple firearms and ammunition from the residence. The suspect was charged with assault and weapons violations, and lodged in jail.

This was the third shooting to occur in southwest Michigan on the Memorial Day holiday; in Battle Creek, two shootings took place just moments apart early Monday morning, in the area of Poplar Ave. and Capital Ave. NE. Those incidents left two people injured, and one dead.
