A man has been arrested after a woman says he robbed her while she was in her car.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that the incident happened around 3:40pm Tuesday, where a woman had been sitting in her car in Battle Creek when a man approached her and opened her car door. She says he was holding a pointed knife or file and made a suggestive statement before asking for a couple of dollars; the woman gave him around $4.25 in quarters and he left.

Police later found the man, and he told them he had simply been carrying a file he picked up after it was left lying around after an eviction, and hadn’t used the file as a weapon. He says he had just asked for money for bus fare.

The man still had the money, and it was returned to the woman before he was taken to jail on a robbery charge.
