A crash that took place in southern Calhoun County early Wednesday morning has left a man dead.

The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says that they were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash near the intersection of Clarendon Rd. and County Line Rd. near Litchfield around 4:50am Wednesday; once they got there, troopers found that the driver of the vehicle had been ejected from his vehicle, a Ford Ranger.

The driver, who was identified as 23-year-old Dustin Timothy-Michael Dillenbeck of Waldron, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Right now, the MSP says that it's not known if drug or alcohol use were factors in this fatal crash. They received help in their response from Life Care Ambulance and the Litchfield Fire Department.

According to the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning's director Michael L. Prince, three out of four people who are ejected from their vehicle in a traffic crash will end up being killed.
