The Michigan State Police as well as Sparrow Forensic Pathology, Office of the Medical Examiner, Sparrow Hospital and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) will host a free event to help identify the missing. The Help 'ID the Missing' event is Friday June 14, 2019, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Sparrow Hospital located at 1215 E. Michigan Avenue in Lansing, MI.

Family members of missing persons are invited to attend this free event to submit DNA samples to help with the identification of unidentified remains housed at medical examiner’s offices throughout Michigan. Currently, there are 314 known unsolved unidentified remains cases statewide.

Potential donors must be biological relatives and will be asked to allow a non-invasive swab of the inside of the cheek.

Family members are encouraged to bring photographs, dental and medical records, or other identifying information to update law enforcement databases. Personal items will be immediately returned.
