Pedestrian Struck By Car In Springfield Dies

The pedestrian who had been crossing the street in Springfield when he was hit by a car has now died.

The Battle Creek Enquirer says that according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, 61-year-old Stuart Lewis died as a result of his injuries Thursday afternoon at the hospital in Kalamazoo. Shortly after the accident September 7, the Sheriff’s Office said that Lewis was crossing the Army Ave. near the Brookside Apartments, when a sedan driven by a 24-year-old Battle Creek woman struck him; he was then taken to the hospital with severe head trauma.

This crash remains under investigation, but authorities say speed and alcohol were likely not involved.
