Monday night, the Marshall City Council will be taking public comment on ordinances that would regulate medical marijuana operations in the city.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that at City Hall at 7pm Monday, the council members will take comments regarding regulations that would allow for medical marijuana growers, processors, transporters and safety compliance facilities; however the proposed changes stop short of allowing marijuana dispensaries within city limits.

The rules would also prohibit operations from being within 6,000 feet of each other, or 1,500 feet of a school.

If Marshall approves these ordinances, they would be the first in Calhoun County to take action on recently passed state laws that allow municipalities to permit medical marijuana activities, such as dispensaries and transport.
