A Springfield man was arrested Wednesday night after an investigation into multiple sexual assaults.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that they had learned several minors accused this man of sexually abusing them, and as a result of interviewing the alleged victims a search warrant was obtained. Deputies went to the residence on Hickory Nut Ln. in Springfield around 7:30pm Wednesday, and didn’t find the suspect inside; however, the 62-year-old man was found at a nearby business and taken into custody.

The home the search warrant was sought for is within walking distance of two schools.

The suspect has now been lodged in jail on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct, including one in the first degree. Authorities say that further charges could be filed as this investigation continues.

The CCSO asks that anyone with information about these crimes please contact them, or call Silent Observer.
