Early this month, recall language was resubmitted for Albion’s Mayor Garrett Brown; the petition language says that the recall is sought due to Brown’s alleged mistreatment of Albion City Manager Sheryl Mitchell, and because it recently came to light that Brown had a personal protection order filed against him by a resident for alleged stalking.

Battle Creek’s Mayor and Vice Mayor have now been selected, in a split vote by the City Commission Tuesday night. The City says that after the swearing in of commissioners, Mark Behnke was chosen to serve as mayor with a 5-4 vote, with Dave Walters getting picked as Vice Mayor 6-3.

Chief Deputy Clerk of Elections Teri Loew says that this November, there will be important elections at the local level, and since in Michigan you need to register 30 days before an election, you need to get registered soon.
