The 2018 High School Football Broadcast Schedule is Here
We're still a month away from the change of seasons, but the changes on the high school gridiron in 2018 will keep this year exciting right from the first week.
We are about to embark on the new season of High School Football on WBCK, and I am proud to bring you all the exciting action from all of the area stadiums for the upcoming year.
This season will be much different than 2017, where we saw a long playoff run from Harper Creek after struggling to find their offense in the first two weeks. There's also a change on the sidelines, as Mason Converse takes over as head coach following the resignation of Mike Seedorff.
That is not the only coaching change in the city, as former Pennfield player and assistant Mike Clothier was elevated to the head spot after Mike McGuire's departure. Lakeview has the most dramatic change, bringing on Jerry Diorio from Benton Harbor to replace Matt Miller.
Other teams in the area will look for better seasons. Battle Creek Central has had back-to-back 3-6 seasons and hope to have their first winning season since 2014. After consecutive 5-4 regular seasons, St. Philip will look to build off of last season's 8-Man postseason bid with less numbers on the roster and receiving players in cooperation with Calhoun Christian. Finally, Marshall brings back solid talent from two 4-5 seasons and look to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
This season's broadcast schedule is below. As a reminder, the schedule may change due to broadcast conflicts and/or possible playoff implications. As always, stay up to date by viewing our broadcast schedule or join us on our Facebook page. I will provide pre-game and post-game videos for all of our contests this season as well.
You will also notice that we will be on the road more often this regular season than ever before! If you can't join us on the road, be sure to join us on the air on 9.53 WBCK or by listening online. If you have not done it yet, you can also download the WBCK app to your smartphone. If you have Amazon Alexa, you can teach it a skill to listen to the game through your Echo or Echo Dot!
Also, if you are a photographer that would like to provide a photo from our games, please email me and we'll use it for our recaps.
