It took just over 15 months to demolish, rebuild and prepare the August 2018 opening of the new Miller Building at Kellogg Community College.

After the original Miller Building was demolished in March of 2017, the next 15 months would provide the anticipation of what was to come on the KCC campus in Battle Creek. Just two months later, the first shovels hit the dirt on the same plot of land that old Miller resided on the north end of campus.

The biggest change for KCC's athletics and physical education classes was a move into downtown. The phys ed classes shifted to the Battle Creek Y Center for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year, and stayed there last school year. The athletic office moved temporarily to the main campus across the parking lot.

For Bruin athletics, it affected the men's and women's basketball teams the most. The remainder of their 2016-2017 schedule, including practices, moved to the Battle Creek Central Field House. They played their the following season, right after the only season of volleyball played in the Field House last fall.

In June, the athletic department moved their offices back into the new Miller Building. With the Open House scheduled for Tuesday, August 7th, I got the opportunity to check out the new digs before the public showing.

Be sure to check in later this week following the Open House, as I interview all the Bruin head coaches in preparation for the 2018-2019 school year.
