A fire in Battle Creek early Tuesday morning is being called suspicious by authorities.

The Battle Creek Fire Department says that around 3:30am Tuesday, June 6, crews were called to a home in the first block of Summer St. At the scene, flames were seen coming from a second floor window and the roof of the front porch.

The home was believed to have been unoccupied, and the fire was quickly put out. A search of the home afterwards determined that there was no one inside. The BCFD says that around $5,000 in damage was done, and that no one was injured.

At this time, this fire is being considered suspicious, and the cause remains unknown. The Fire Marshal is now investigating.
