Battle Creek Police send ‘Crime Trend Alert’

The Battle Creek Police Department has sent out “Crime Trend Alert” alert. In the past week there have been several instances of individuals forcing entry through side or rear doors and attached garages. Once inside the individuals target electronics and jewelry. The break-ins are occurring between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. within a few hours of residents exiting the homes along the south side of town.  Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.

BCPD is asking residents to evaluate the layers of security around your home. Double check that security lighting is working properly and that lamps and motion sensors are positioned to maximize coverage. Make sure exterior doors are equipped with a deadbolt lock and are indeed locked. They also advise adding a high security strike plate to increase security.
