Citizen Input Sought Regarding Farm Animals In Battle Creek
The date has now been set for a workshop discussion, on the issue of urban farm animals in Battle Creek.
The City of Battle Creek says that at 5:30pm Tuesday, March 21, citizens may address the city commission with questions and comments about the possibility of raising animals like hens, goats and bees within city limits.
This is a potential ordinance that has been debated for over a year, initially brought up by Sprout Urban Farms; the City commission approved unanimously in January an ordinance allowing agricultural projects on urban lands, but pushed off voting on animal-raising to a later date.
City Planner for Battle Creek Christine Zuzga will be on The Richard Piet Show Friday, March 17 to talk more in depth about Urban Farm Animals.
