No one was injured after a fire sparked in an abandoned Battle Creek home Tuesday night.

The fire department was called around 8:45pm to the first block of Seivour Ave, and found heavy smoke coming from the windows on the second floor. Authorities believed that the building was abandoned, however they couldn't be sure if the building was unoccupied.

Crews extinguished the fire and searched through the building, and didn't find anyone inside. The cause of the fire is unknown, but the Battle Creek Fire Department says that it is suspicious, and the Fire Marshal is investigating.

The damage is described as "extensive", with the total cost estimated to be around $35,000.
