Minor Element Talks Jazz And The Southwest Michigan Music Scene
Jazz is a genre that can mean many different things to many different people. To Minor Element, it means making something different and inventive.
Minor Element, a Jazz Fusion Band out of Battle Creek, is a group headed up by Brandon Fitzpatrick. Brandon is a keys player with a lifetime of practice, and appeared on the 95.3 WBCK Morning Show with Nico Berrios to talk about the group; alongside Brandon, we had other members including Brent the horns player, Trey the bassist, and Zane the sound engineer.
On the show, we talked about how each of them came to develop an interest in music, and how they then joined Minor Element. We also discussed the difficulties that gigging musicians might face in an area like Southwest Michigan, and how they overcome it.
Minor Element is hosting a show at Bell's Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo on April 16, called For Your Ears Only 2, with the groups Lushh, Niika, and Earth Radio. The 21+ event has tickets going for $8 bought beforehand, and $10 at the door. You can find more about it at the link here.
