One Extra Day! Jackson County School Cancels First Day

Today was the first day of school for all of Jackson County schools, but one district will start a day later.

The reports that Concord Community Schools was set to start Wednesday morning until administrators learned that >vandals broke into the district’s bus lot and deflated the tires on 10 of their buses - a majority of their fleet. Some of the tires were so deflated that they came off the rims.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the case and looking for clues.

All Jackson County schools were granted a waiver to begin school before Labor Day for the next three years. The school boards approved a common calendar to meet the waiver standards.

Concord will have a full day of school on Thursday.
