A Tekonsha man accused of sexually abusing a young girl over several years will be headed to trial.

The Battle Creek Enquirer says that on Monday, Perry Coleman appeared in Calhoun County Court, where testimony was heard from the 10-year-old he is accused of abusing since she was six. The girl testified that Coleman repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped her, telling her at times that if she got help from her parents or teachers about this issue that she would be taken away.

Coleman also allegedly hit the victim with a belt when she didn’t comply. He has been convicted twice before of sex crimes against children, is facing three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct.

He was arraigned in May; If convicted at trial, Coleman faces 25 years to life in prison.
