The Calhoun County Office of Community Development has announced a few dates for scrap tire collection for county residents.

These tire collections only allow for unwanted passenger vehicle tires and not for commercial business or over-sized tires, like tractor or loader tires. The collections are part of a $90,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Scrap Tire Cleanup Program to the Southwest Michigan Solid Waste Consortium. Calhoun County is part of the seven-county group in the grant.

The locations, dates and times are as follows -
Tuesday, June 25th
Village of Tekonsha
537 North Church Street
Noon to 5pm, or until semi-trailer becomes full

Saturday, July 27th
City of Albion
Ketchum Field (1203 East North Street)
9am to 3pm, or until semi-trailer becomes full

Saturday, September 14th
Athens
130 East Burr Oak Street

The County will have these collections rain or shine. Early tire drop-off will not be allowed. The maximum amount of 10 passenger tires will be allowed. The semi-trailer can hold approximately 1,000 passenger tires.
