At least two people fired shots at each other early Saturday in the 600 block of Capital Avenue Southwest. Battle Creek police said they were called at 12:37 a.m. to the Liberty Mart at 621 Capital Ave. S.W. but did not find any victims or suspects. One witness, who was ducking inside her vehicle after the gunfire began, said she saw a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt get out of an SUV and began shooting and then the man left in the vehicle. Police found eight shell casings in the parking lot just north of the store and six shell casings south of the store in the parking lot of a former Little Caesars restaurant. Later, an employee of the Liberty Mart found his vehicle had four bullet holes to the fender and damage to the windshield.
