Battle Creek police responded to a bomb threat at a auto parts company.

A man allegedly approached a clerk at the front desk and told her, "I don't want to hurt anyone, but I have a device. Give me some money."

Alerts were sent out in Calhoun and Kalamazoo counties, as well as other communities around the state and across the country

The threats have been happening across the U.S. and appear to be a hoax, but officials haven't been confirmed that at this time.

All other buildings are in session as usual.

The City of Battle Creek says that someone called in reports of a suspicious package around 3:30pm Tuesday on the sidewalk on Champion St, right in front of the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center. The street was closed for an hour and a half while the Battle Creek Police Department Bomb Squad was called in to investigate; the bag was eventually opened, and was found to contain toiletry items of no danger.
