On November 14, the Battle Creek City Commission will have their new members sworn in, and the mayor and vice mayor will be elected.

According to the Commission’s agenda, the organizational meeting will set the schedule for the next year, before moving on to the regular meeting, throwing commissioners back into the thick of things. Among the resolutions to be considered is one that will create a Battle Creek Fire Fighters Retiree Health Insurance Funding Trust, a trust that has already established funding.

Also being considered is a resolution accepting the city’s collective bargaining agreement with the Amalgamated Transit Union.

This work shouldn’t be hard for the incoming commissioners; John Griffin, Sherry Sofia and Chris Simmons have all been on the Battle Creek City Commission before.
