Battle Creek Area Man Hurt In Crash After Police Chase
A man is in the hospital after he allegedly led police on a chase Friday night, leading to a crash.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies were searching the area of Michigan Ave. near Bedford Rd. in Bedford Township around 8:16pm Friday, for a suspect who was believed to have stolen electronics from a store in Marshall. Deputies saw the suspect vehicle driving recklessly, and attempted a traffic stop; the vehicle instead drove away at high speed.
Eventually, the driver lost control, left the road, and crashed into multiple empty vehicles parked at a business on Michigan Ave. near Collier. The driver, a 51-year-old Bedford Township man, was hurt and taken to Bronson Kalamazoo in stable condition. Stolen property was found in his vehicle, and authorities say that alcohol and drugs might have been involved in the incident; however, deputies continue to investigate.
The CCSO was assisted by the Battle Creek Police Department, Bedford Township Fire Department, and LifeCare Ambulance.
