A new phone scam might be sweeping through Calhoun County.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says Tuesday that they received a report from a citizen, who complained of a scammer impersonating a Sheriff’s Deputy. The scammer told the victim they had a ticket from a traffic camera, and asked them to come meet with a sheriff’s deputy in Marshall to pay for the ticket in cash.

The Sheriff’s Office says that they don’t do business like this, and they say if you get a call of a similar nature you should hang up and tell law enforcement. You can also contact Silent Observer.
