Lakeview Soccer Gives Up Postseason Run Due to Overscheduling

Wednesday's Boys Soccer Division 1 District Semifinal for the Lakeview Spartans has been cancelled, after the team withdrew for postseason competition.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced that the amount of regular season games exceeded the maximum amount of games allowed of 18 contests. According to the MHSAA's schedule, the Spartans played 20 contests, finishing 13-5-2.

Lakeview’s opponent, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, advances to the District Final Saturday to play the winner of Portage Central and Portage Northern. The Portage semifinal is Wednesday at 5pm. The final will take place at Portage Central at Noon.

Lakeview’s first opponent in the playoffs, Battle Creek Central, will receive a forfeit win instead of a loss. The Bearcats will not advance in the postseason and their season is complete.

Also, the Spartans have a forfeit loss in their regular season finale with Mattawan, completing the 2019 campaign at 13-7-2.
