A 67 year old Charlotte area resident is facing criminal charges. He’s accused of embezzling money from a church, the Olivet Assembly of God. The accused, Douglas Hammond, was also the pastor of the church. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports prosecutors are charging him with taking more than $100,000 more from the church over a 6 year period.

The charges carry stiff penalties of jail time and restitution, or both. Hammond is being held on $10,000 bond. He’s due back in court next month.
