Two people were sent to the hospital in Calhoun County Tuesday afternoon after their motorcycle crashed.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies were called around 2:30pm Tuesday to I-94 at 11 Mile Rd, next to Firekeeper’s Casino. Authorities say that it appears at this time that a motorcycle, driven by a 47-year-old Tecumseh man, attempted to enter onto 1-94 when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit the back of a semi-trailer.

The driver was taken to Bronson Kalamazoo by Ambulance, while his passenger, a 52-year-old Tecumseh woman, had to be airlifted to the hospital with more serious injuries. The semi truck driver was uninjured.

Both of those on the motorcycle had been wearing helmets.

The cause of this accident is now being looked into by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Accident Re-constructionist.

The CCSD was assisted by Emmett Township Public Safety, the Michigan State Police, Battle Creek Police Department, Tribal Police and Life Care EMS.
