Victim Of Deadly Battle Creek House Fire Identified
The man who was found dead in a burning home in Battle Creek earlier this week has now been identified.
Battle Creek authorities say that 44-year-old Eric Edward Philips was found dead on the first floor of the home in the 200 block of E. Michigan Avenue, late Monday. So far, investigators know that Philips was the co-owner of the home, that he didn’t live there, and that he was making renovations to it at the time of the fire.
The fire caused significant damage to the home, and the victim was only discovered after the blaze was pushed back for about two hours.
Further investigation into the incident continues, with how Philips died and how the fire started still to be determined.
