Firekeeper’s Poker Tournaments To Benefit Food Bank
An upcoming poker tournament is set to benefit one of Battle Creek’s food pantries.
Firekeeper’s Casino says that January 15 to the 17, they will be hosting the "Restock the Shelves" event in cooperation with Ante Up Magazine and Blue Shark Optics. Proceeds from the event will go to the Kendall Street Pantry, which is operated by Firekeeper’s and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan.
Participants in the No Limit Texas Hold'Em Tournaments will be able to receive tournament chips for a food or cash donation. Firekeeper's says that buy-in to the tournaments will be $40, with registration two hours prior; however, they say if you don't play poker you can still make a donation during the event.
Last year’s event generated over $1,500 and over 150 pounds of food, which they say equals over 9,000 meals for the families that are served by the Food Bank. The Kendall Street Pantry is located at 172 S Kendall St. in Battle Creek, and shares a building with The Fire Hub restaurant.
