Two Killed, Two Injured After Three Cars Hit Tree South of Battle Creek
Two people are dead and others were hurt after a three car crash that took place in East Leroy this morning.
The Michigan State Police say the accident happened around 3:45am Friday, where a tree fell across M-66 between H Dr. and F Dr. and a car hit it. That driver suffered minor injuries, but while police were responding a second car collided with the tree, causing the top of it to come off.
The driver of the second car, 48-year-old Kathie Marie Thomason, and passenger 60-year-old Howard Ray Bergman were both killed in the crash.
A third car crashed as well, causing the driver minor injuries.
The MSP were joined at the scene by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, Battle Creek Police Department, Leroy Township Fire Department, The Michigan Department of Transportation and the Calhoun County Road Commission, along with Lifecare EMS.
